Arnav Naraharisetti: A Rising Star On the Canadian Music Scene
It all began when he was just four years old. One day, while driving home from school, he spotted a Yamaha piano at a yard sale. He wanted it so badly that he cried for it. Seeing his passion, his mother bought it for $20, and his joy knew no bounds—it was as if he had found his greatest treasure.
Meet Arnav Naraharisetti, a young and well-rounded singer who is rapidly making a name for himself in the Indo-Canadian and international music scenes. Known for his powerful voice and wide-ranging musical styles, he has captivated audiences with performances spanning soulful ballads to upbeat pop.
As soon as he laid his hands on his new piano, he couldn’t wait to play. “I played random notes every single day and slammed the keys as hard as I could,” he recalls. Soon, he began self-learning by watching videos and picking up notes. In just six months, he was playing melodies!
Recognizing his potential, his parents enrolled him in music classes at five, where he began formal training in Indian Carnatic music. His journey with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) started at age nine, introducing him to Western classical music. Now 12 years old and a Grade 6 gifted student, Arnav has also recently begun learning Hindustani classical music. Currently, he is being trained by seven teachers and vocal coaches from Canada, India, and the U.S.
To date, Arnav has performed in approximately 52 concerts across 14 languages, including English, Hindi, French, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. He is proficient in five instruments—the grand piano, keyboard, guitar, Western flute, and ukulele—and has won awards for his grand piano performances at Contemporary Showcase (Western Classical).
His repertoire is an eclectic mix, showcasing his ability to connect with diverse audiences. Whether performing the traditional Shiv Tandav Stotra or a Lewis Capaldi ballad, Arnav delivers each piece with exceptional control and depth, excelling in both traditional and contemporary music styles.
Beyond singing, Arnav is also a talented dancer. “Dancing comes naturally to me. It started with rhythm tapping when I was four, and my dad has been my choreographer on this journey,” he shares. He also works with dance teachers to refine his skills.
“It truly takes a village and a whole lot of dedication to raise an artist,” says his mother, who diligently manages his performance schedules, classes, and studies while working full-time.
“Mom is behind everything—recording, scheduling, and even managing my social media. She is so nice. I’m very lucky to have her,” Arnav says, casting an admiring glance toward his mother.
Balancing his music career with academics isn’t easy, especially as a gifted student. So how does he manage it all? “I love to prioritize. I dedicate a lot of time to scheduling. Education comes first—it’s the most important thing I will have in my life. It’s always our number one priority. Any school presentations? We’re going for it. Even if I’m sick, I have to push through and be there on time.”
With his strong work ethic, natural talent, and unwavering family support, it’s no surprise that awards and accolades have become the norm for Arnav. Notable achievements include being the runner-up in Mere Sang Gaa Season 7 and Canasamble 2024.
His recent success—placing 2nd runner-up in the Open Mic finals—has secured him a spot in the Ontario Championship at the provincial level, further cementing his presence in competitive music.
He has also been recognized by the Government of Ontario for his contributions to music, won 1st place at the ORMTA Piano Competitions, and recently became a finalist for Panorama Idol 2025.
With every performance, Arnav continues to earn recognition for his emotive delivery, technical skill, and passion for music. He is an inspiring talent to watch as he prepares for the Ontario Championship and reaches new heights in his musical journey.
