Alberta Premier Danielle Smith welcomes efforts to boost Indian Investment in Canada

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has warmly welcomed attempts to boost Indian investment in Canada, underscoring her province’s readiness to embrace new trade and collaboration opportunities. Praising Alberta’s diverse business community as a cornerstone of prosperity, Smith positioned the province as one of the most attractive destinations for Indian entrepreneurs and investors seeking to expand abroad.

“In Alberta, we celebrate our job creators, because we know that when they thrive, our communities thrive,” Smith said. “Our diverse business communities have been vital to our province’s prosperity, and together we will continue to ensure Alberta is one of the best places to invest, innovate and grow. Alberta is excited to build on our long-standing ties with India, pursuing new avenues for trade and collaboration.”

Leaders applaud the CHCC’s arrival in Alberta

Smith’s remarks were reinforced by her colleagues, who stressed how vital Indian investment in Canada has become to the province’s future. MLA Peter Singh emphasized the role of the Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) as a driver of economic and community development:

“By fostering unity, representation, and opportunity, the CHCC is poised to be a powerful force in strengthening both our community and the broader Canadian economy,” Singh said.

MLA Shane Getson, Chair of Alberta’s India Trade Advisory Committee and Parliamentary Secretary for Economic Corridor Development, highlighted the Chamber’s importance in building stronger Canada–India ties.

“The CHCC, as the first registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to uniting Canadian Hindus around shared economic interests, is a welcome and much-needed initiative. Alberta is committed to deepening trade and cultural ties with India and the broader South Asian community,” Getson said, pointing to the critical role of Indian investment in Canada’s growth story.

Invest Canada–Invest India: building bridges

These statements came in the wake of the fourth Invest Canada–Invest India event, which officially launched the CHCC’s Alberta Chapter. The gathering showcased Alberta’s strengths in energy, technology, and innovation while underscoring the potential of Indian investment in Canada to create new business corridors and cultural partnerships.

With dynamic panel discussions and keynote speeches, the event reflected the mutual appetite for stronger collaboration between Alberta and India—unlocking new doors for trade, investment, and prosperity.

The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce

The Canadian Hindu Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) is the first registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to uniting Hindu entrepreneurs, professionals, and businesses across Canada. It serves as a platform for mentorship, investment, and cultural exchange, while strengthening ties between Canada and India.

By expanding to Alberta, the CHCC is extending its role as a connector—championing Indian investment in Canada and supporting Canada’s growing economic partnership with India.
